VOLUNTARY POSTS
A really good way to be involved with the work of the company and feel a part of the family is to volunteer for different exciting posts. If you enjoy theatre and the arts, and want to support inclusive theatre for children have a look at the positions below. Training is always given and if you no longer work or are retired this is ideal.

All volunteers are automatically added to the 'Friends of Whirlwind Theatre' club. You will also be entitled to a Whirlwind Theatre T-Shirt
FRONT OF HOUSE MANAGER
To be leading the front of house team that welcome audiences, take tickets and serving interval coffee and tea. You will be responsible for the health and safety of the audience including first aid and fire evacuation. You will also be required to liaise with Stage Management.
Perks include a family ticket to see the show, membership to Whirlwind Theatre Friends with quarterly newsletters and your own T-Shirt. A loyalty stamp card to fill and the more you volunteer for the more reductions you will get to workshops, summer schools and ticket prices.

An up-to-date first aid certificate would be desirable but not essential.
ADMINISTRATION/ MARKETING:
Work Description :
Assisting with administration duties, publicity and marketing of our yearly programme of workshops, productions and summer school; Assisting and organising fundraising events and the marketing of the company including leaflet drops to schools and mail outs; to make phone calls, liaise with schools, write letters and work along side the management team. There will be some booking of tours for both schools outreach and small theatre and organising ‘friends of’ events, co-ordinate CRB clearances and references.

Skills and Qualifications:
Good organisational skills, pleasant telephone manner an interest in arts & culture, enthusiasm and experience in administration and a driving license 9 But not essential.
FUNDRAISERS
To help organise the ongoing fundraising of the company and to work alongside the administration. Any fun idea can be turned in to a fundraising event but need extra hands on deck to organise.

Again by putting up our actors, stage management and musicians you will automatically join our friends of club, have news letters, be invited to events, have a family ticket for a Whirlwind show and have the loyalty card that gives further reduction.
CHILDCARE TEAM SUPPORT - To give extra assistance to the childcare team during lunchtimes, breaks and also to assist during productions both backstage, in dressing rooms and signing children in and out. There are opportunities to be able to undertake a level 2 NVQ childcare/ play work qualification with Lancaster and Morecambe College, enabling to be added to the paid team in future or to go on to have a career in childcare.
EXTRA WORKSHOP ASSISTANCE: There are opportunities to become a Whirlwind Theatre apprentice working alongside the workshop teams – This is a good way to learn along side professional theatre people and get experience especially in the interim to going to Drama School.
BOARD TRUSTEES MEMBERS – The board will meet quarterly and because the company is entrusted to these people they must understand and support the ethos and aims and objectives of Whirlwind Theatre and its management staff. Mike and Myette will remain as part of the board but paid members must not out number non paid members and can not attend when their wages are discussed.
